1. How do you envision using art in your classroom?
I envision using art in my classroom by integrating it with numerous other subjects, including math, social studies, science, literacy, and music. Art integration is an excellent way to explore creativity and ideas that students have on numerous different topics. I cannot think of many lesson plans that I could not include some sort of art integration, whether it be simple or extremely complex. Art is a subject that I truly enjoy and as an educator that gives me the opportunity to share this passion and imagination with students.
2. What do you know about integrated learning / integration?
I have learned that intergrated learning can be used between all subjects. There is no limitation on creativity of integration on subjects or topic ideas. There are numerous ways a big idea can be shared and taught in many different aspects and through many different lenses.
3. Rate your comfort level in making art, and discuss.
Uneasy 1 2 3 4 5 Comfortable
I LOVE making art and exploring my creativity with different mediums. This has by far been my favorite class at the University of Missouri. I have learned many new integration and art techniques that I will someday be able to share with my students. I still think that I am not the very best at art, but I can certainly say that I have improved.
4. Rate your comfort level in analyzing and talking about art, and discuss.
Uneasy 1 2 3 4 5 Comfortable
My comfort level has really changed over the course of the semester. I learned that art can be analyzed and discussed, when before I really considered it to be "critiquing" in a more negative light. I have learned how discuss my opinions and share my ideas with classmates that has better prepared me in doing this with my students. This makes me think of the quote, "A picture is worth 1000 words." That quote is so true, because so many people can look at a picture and see many different things.
